Domaine du Nouveau Monde, Languedoc, France, stock photography samples, by Per Karlsson, BKWine — This is only a selection of samples. Use Image SEARCH to find more photos — Domaine du Nouveau Monde is a small, family run winery in Languedoc in the south of France. It is run by the young and talented winemaker Anne-Laure Borras (and her husband Sebastien), daughter of Jacques Gauch who took over the winery in 1976.
The winery is exceptionally located almost on the beach near Valras in the Bezier area of the Languedoc. The vineyards are made up of several parcels of land, some of which have sandy soil (close to the beach…) and others have a stony soil similar to that found in Chateauneuf with big “galet” type of rocks. They have in total around 10 hectares of land.
The winery and wine making facilities are very traditioinal with big concrete fermentation tanks (now coming back in vogue). Some of their wines are aged in oak barrels. The red wines of Domaine du Nouveau Monde are made from the grape varieties syrah, grenache and mourvèdre in varying proportions depending on the cuvee. They also make a rosé and a small quantity of white. The white is made from a very unusual grape variety called chasan (descendant from chardonnay and listan). It is a quite full-bodied white wine. They also make a pure chardonnay.
