Food markets abounds in France and in some other southern European countries. They are a source for wonderful food produce and for nice food photography. They are often colourful, both in terms of all the food, vegetables, fish and other things that are sold there and in terms of the character-ful merchants who sell their products.

You can find all sorts of fish, shellfish, oysters, mussles; fowl with many different birds, chicken and duck of course but also more exotic things like partridge; vegetables and fruits, often stacked in beautiful piles making you want to take a bite; butchers and charcuteries with wonderful dry cured hams, freshly cut slabs of juicy meat, home made sausages; the cheese mongers with their incredible selections of all shapes and forms of cheeses, some of which one has never heard of etc etc.
