It is a particular pleasure when a feature article is fully illustrated with your pictures. It is different from having the odd image used as an illustration. This is what happened recently when the Wine Companion did a feature article on wine travel in the Rioja wine region in Spain
The Wine Companion, or giving its full name James Halliday’s Wine Companion, is one of Australia’s leading wine magazines. In its latest issue it has a feature on the Rioja wine region in northern Spain. In the wine travel section of the magazine they have published an article by Alex Prichard on travelling in Rioja. The article is liberally illustrated with photography from BKWine Photography. Almost all the pictures illustrating Alex Prichard’s text are mine.
The article talks about visiting vineyards and wineries, with tips on where to go and where to stay. Also where to eat good food and tapas. She gives a lot of good information! Some of the bodegas that are mentioned are Bodegas Baigorri, Marques de Riscal and Dinastia Vivanco.
Watch the video below to see more of the article and of the photography.
For a magazine designer it can also give a different dimension if he/she chooses photography mainly from a single photographer. Or put in another way, using images from one photographer gives the article a more interesting or personal style, as the designer of the Wine companion told me.
