Mas Champart, Saint Chinian, Languedoc, France, stock photography samples, by Per Karlsson, BKWine — This is only a selection of samples. Use Image SEARCH to find more photos — Mas Champart is a small family-run winery in the Saint Chinian appellation in the Languedoc in the south of France. It is owned (and managed) by Isabelle and Mathieu Champart who took over Isabelle’s family’s farm in the 70s. Initially they were simply grape growers, selling their grapes to the co-operative. After some time they decided to start making and bottling the wine themselves – a decision the wine lovers can only cheer since it has led to one more great Languedoc wine coming on the market.
The vineyards of Mas Champart extend over some 25 hectares (not all planted with grapes) over several different plots. This makes for a variety of different soils and the grapes are planted according to what goes best with which soil and which micro climate. They have mourvèdre, carignan, syrah, grenache and even some cabernet franc. They also have some white grapes: viognier, roussanne, grenache blanc, bourboulenc. The winery is small and traditional. Isabelle is the one who is mainly in charge of the winemaking.
