Mas du Soleilla, La Clape, Languedoc, France, stock photography samples, by Per Karlsson, BKWine — This is only a selection of samples. Use Image SEARCH to find more photos — Mas du Soleilla is a winery in the La Clape district in the Languedoc region in the South of France. Mas de Soleilla was created in 2002 by Peter Wildbolz and his wife Christa Derungs, both from Switzerland. The small winery is located on the Massif de La Clape hill, a small mountain not far from the Mediterranean Sea. A long time ago this was a small island. It is one of the sunniest and driest parts of France with a micro-climate that sets it apart from the rest of the Languedoc wine regions.
The Mas du Soleilla vineyards extend over 22 hectares, all farmed organically. The grape varieties planted in the vineyard are mainly grenache, syrah and carignan, but there is also some cabernet franc, and merlot. Winemaking is more of the modern style with an initial cold soaking (maceration pre-fermentaire a froid), long maceration, and enhanced extraction by punching down. Fermentation is in stainless steel tanks. Some of the cuvees are aged in wood.
Mas du Soleilla makes a range of wines: White wines: Reserve Blanc, and La Rupture. Red wines: Les Chailles, L’Intrus, les Bartelles, Terre du Vent, and Clot de l’Amandier
